What to expect

Overview.

The Irish Family History Centre provides the expertise and resources to help you discover your family history. Whether you’re a new-comer to family history or an experienced researcher, our genealogists are here to help!

FAQs.

Every consultation begins with a conversation – we like to find out what your current family history knowledge is, including any documents you might have collected. Then our genealogists will work with you using online databases and their expertise to search for more information, show you how to get the most out of the existing records and answer any questions you have. As consultations are one-on-one, they can be very helpful at answering queries, linking the information together and solving ‘brick walls’ you’ve come across in your own research.

These consultations are available in person, in our centre in Dublin and also online, via Zoom.

We provide bespoke research projects, commissioned to your specific questions and requests. This could be a very special gift or to follow on from work done previously with a more in-depth and extensive exploration

Our research team can come up with a unique research plan for you, using both traditional genealogical techniques and DNA analysis, to create a detailed PDF report.

The Irish Family History Centre has worked on television programmes like Who Do You Think You Are? and been commissioned by The White House and Tourism Ireland to look into the official genealogies of people such as President Joe Biden, Barbara Windsor and Princess Charlene of Monaco.
