Are you eager to find out more about your family history? If so then bring your questions to a new Genealogy Advisory Service taking place in Blanchardstown Library this summer. Providing the advice will be Fiona Fitzsimons from Eneclann, a Trinity College campus company that specialises in history and heritage.
Fiona Fitzsimons says:
“The Genealogy Advisory Service is great GAS, pun intended! The fun of the genealogy service is that I never know in advance who I’ll meet, or what stories I’ll hear. My job is to listen, to identify verifiable facts and events, and to guide enquirers in their research. I look forward to meeting you in Blanchardstown Library, and hopefully taking the mystery out of your family history.”
This free service will begin on Wednesday 15 June 2016 from 10.30am to 1.30pm when Fiona will be available to answer family history questions on a first come, first served basis.
Also on the day, 11am to 12pm, Niall Cullen will host an online training session in how to use www.findmypast.ie the largest online collection of Irish family history records in the world and now available free of charge to the public in the library.
“We are delighted to welcome the Genealogy Advisory Service to Blanchardstown library” said Lilian Whelan, manager of Blanchardstown Library. “The area of family history is of constant interest to our borrowers and it’s great to be able to offer this service to them in such an accessible way.” The service will also take place on 20 July and 10 August 2016.
